Meet Julie Lam

Julie Lam is the Founder of MaskTogetherAmerica which supports the frontline battle against Covid in America. Julie started MaskTogetherAmerica initially as an awareness initiative that encouraged sharing of masked portraits to rally America to mask up. Today, this mission has morphed into an uplifting campaign that promotes both vaccination and community-masking through video PSAs, IGTV, and story-sharing.

This volunteer project allows Julie to demonstrate her writing, photography, and marketing skills. MaskTogetherAmerica reaches tens of thousands of people each month and has emerged as a positive movement on social media.

Julie is a New York-based writer and artist who has attended Hong Kong Polytechnic and Massachusetts College of Art to develop a foundation in art and design. Julie has also earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.

Julie's urgent effort to promote mask-wearing at the start of the pandemic has been curated by Medium and published in New York Voice. Her passion to effect changes on an individual level stems from her desire to stand with the marginalized and advocate social reform. Prior to pursuing writing, Julie worked as a creative director at several Boston and Manhattan advertising agencies. During her advertising career, she created memorable campaigns for Fortune 500 companies, including TD Ameritrade, American Express, Motorola, and Time Warner. Julie's work has received industry recognition and many awards, including The One Show, the Emmy, D&AD, and The London International Advertising Award.
